let’s give it a try, shall we?
To appease neighbors, the club has installed double doors to prevent noise from reaching the street. They have also tapped employees to sweep the sidewalk in front of the venue and answer the phone during the day to take complaints from neighbors.
…say the new owners of Studio B to the Brooklyn Paper.
I’ll be giving this a try soon.

have things improved there at all? i went today with my girlfriend to look at apartments being built in the old sweater factory right next door to studio b and i’m totally concerned about the place in general. the space we looked at is perfect…but the spector of studio b hangs over our decision to seriously consider living there. im an artist and my girlfriend is a writer and some noise is ok but everything ive ever read about this place is that its a nightmare.

here’s the thing, cristian: since i worked as a broker, i know that all you want me to do is sell you. you want me to confirm your decision to move into the building. and unfortunately, i refuse to do that. we will be neighbors, for one; and for two, i can’t possibly do that.
has it “improved”? well, there is a smoking pen, and they did put in double doors. has it removed the screaming people on the block, the traffic, the lines of cars, cabs and car service up and down the block, honking repeatedly and discharging passengers? no. has it removed the actual noise from the club itself? no. and all of this is before the roof deck reopens, which you will be right above. has it removed the hordes of drunken hipsters standing in front of what will be your building, drinking and smoking and breaking bottles and and and?
no. none of it’s changed, really. it’s just winter, the windows are closed, and the noise impacts us less.
if you really want to know if it has changed, then you’ll come out here on a friday or saturday night that the club is open around 12 or 1am and see for yourself if you want to live right next door to that. i gotta tell ya, there is no sum of money that would make up for my loss of quality of life.
